I was away at a dance conference this past week, so that’s going to be my excuse for not posting in so long.
Within the past week my phone broke, Michael Jackson died, Farrah Fawcett died, my relationship ended, I got a 102.4-degree fever (with lingering throat soreness, yum) and we STILL haven’t found a tenant for the space on the first floor.
Yet and still, my week away was a blast! I’ve never worked so hard for something in a week’s span like that. The mere fact that I pushed myself for dance the way I did proves to me that I’m doing the right things in my life right now. Nothing and no one is going to stand in my way… I know it’s going to be really hard to make it far in the arts industry, but I’m going to put up a hard fight. This week was the inspiration I needed.
Not having reliable access to a phone/internet turned out not as bad as I thought it would be. My college advisor always tells me to drop the iPod and the phone sometimes and “look around [my]self.” She is so fucking right. Trees and clouds are some beautiful, ever-changing things when you give them a chance. I’m so excited about going on Spring Break with Rasheda this year! I want to balance my workload and make time for the people that really matter to me.
The one struggle I’m not looking forward to is money management. I went food shopping for the first time this past week and I almost cried when I was given my total at the register. CRIED! Never again will I add anything to my Mom’s shopping list that I don’t absolutely need… I am so understanding of how important our family’s financial stability is now that I am going to continue to make changes to save money for Mom.
